The Sacrament of Confirmation
It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For "by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed."
-Catechism of the Catholic Church 1285
Confirmation classes for all Freshman in high school begin in the fall and follow the same schedule as our Parish School of Religion. Please reach out to our Confirmation Director Michael Hummer (michaelhummer12@gmail.com) before the school year begins so we can register you/your child and keep you informed of any meetings and commitments needed in preparing for this sacrament.
STEUBENVILLE
2021
Each year the Confirmation students are required to attend an overnight retreat. This year, from 16-18 July 2021, our youth attended Steubenville STL Mid-America, a high-energy youth conference where thousands of teens are invited to encounter Jesus Christ through dynamic speakers, engaging music, the Sacraments, small group discussions, and fellowship with other teens. The theme for this year's conference was Restored. The conference is an outreach of Franciscan University in partnership with the St. Louis Archdiocesan Office of Youth Ministry.
