Sister Nancy Rose Gucwa, OSB, shared that she though that coming to West Point meant the end of her religious vocation. Sister Nancy Rose was a member of the trailblazing first class of women to matriculate into the Long Grey Line in 1976. After graduating in 1980 with an engineering degree, Sister Nancy Rose was commissioned as a second lieutenant and assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg. There she became a paratrooper and jump master. Sister retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel and discerned her call to religious life. In 2013, she made her final monastic profession at the Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Monastery in Clyde, Missouri.
